New Product Review:

PANDA MP3 PLAYER, manufactured by NTK Computer, Inc.
with 32 MB built-in Memory

I'm sure many of you reading this article have seen the various portable digital music devices that have been released over the past year, beginning with the Diamond Rio, and continuing through literally dozens of players, all very similar in design to each other.

I recently came across a portable MP3 playing device that really caught my eye. This amazing tiny portable MP3 player features built-in easy download of MP3 files through a parallel port (PC Only) and comes with software for loading and saving downloaded MP3 files from your desktop or laptop PC. Overall, this player represents excellent value. The software that ships with the Panda MP3 player is compatible with Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. The MP3 music files are downloaded to a 32 MB CF Card through the enhanced parallel port of a PC compatible computer, or the PCMCIA slot of a notebook computer. The player software can also be used for downloading data or MP3 files to store on 32 MB Compact Flash Memory cards. Most CF Card Reader/Writers are also compatible with the MP3 Panda Music player. The file management software is very simple and easy to use. One of the things that impressed me most about the Panda was its unique design. This is what originally caught my eye, and what makes the Panda stand out in the sea of identical cigarette-case style boxes that comprises most other portable MP3 players. The Panda itself is slim and lightweight. The unique design makes it very portable.

This is a complete system. It comes with everything you need to load and play MP3 music and audio files. The PANDA Player has the following functions. (On), (Play), (Pause), (Off), (Next), (Previous), (Sound Up), (Sound Down), (4 Stage Sound Equalizer) Normal, Jazz, Classical, and Pop .

The PANDA PLAYER comes with NTK'S AWARD WINNING G-Cup Virtual Surround Sound Earphones (reviewed last spring in AMP) which greatly enhance the listening experience.

The Key Benefits of this Player are:

This model comes standard with 32MB of memory, a small compartment for the slim, AAA battery, and a very unique assortment of control buttons. Despite the lack of a traditional display, the Panda was very easy to use. It is a nice sounding unit and ergonomically well designed. It's a great unit for the price, with a neat package size. It's easy to use, has good sound quality and the size is a definitely a plus.
