It's been quite a while since I've heard an album this good, by the new school of flamenco guitarists ( nouveau flameco ) as Ottmar Liebert coined the phrase in the late eighties. Actually Esteban is much more diverse than Ottmar and his contemporaries. On 'Enter the Heart' he displays a great talent for blending many styles to suit his own musical personality. The last cut on the album is a tribute to his classical guitar teacher, the world reknowned Andres Segovia. For years Esteban studied with Segovia in Madrid, and as the album clearly displays, he must have been a great pupil. The backup musicians are tastefully laid back giving the classical guitar the spotlight, while providing a perfect backdrop. Elements of the Caribbean are also heard amongst the joy and passion that overflow from this musical offering, capturing the true essence of the gypsy spirit. His finely tuned sensitivity elevates Esteban's music as he establishes himself as one of the top flight guitarists in the contemporary guitar scene. Review by Ben
