Don Robertson The album is filled with
relaxing melodies that are great for listening to at the end
of a stressful workday. Well shaped memorable melodies are
delivered with utter conviction and flair.
These...compositions are stately, sometimes jubilent,
sometimes reflective, sometimes buoyant explorations of
motifs and tonality. The playing reflects a maturity and a
willingness to let the melodic lines shine for themselves. I
highly recommend this album to anyone that loves piano
music. It is one of the most refreshing albums out there,
brimming with romantic uplifting piano.

'Keys'
(Dovesong
International CD-5007)
'Keys'is
Don Robertson's first piano album. It contains six original
instrumental pieces. Robertson's latest release is
primarily a piano album with subtle pads here and there to
add atmosphere and depth, .
his spacious themes often
bring to mind the romantic musings of George Winston and Liz
Story. The album, over the course of an hour, takes the
listener on a celestial journey that doesn't let go until
the last note. Don Robertson's virtuosity is demonstrated
prominently in "Piano Fantasy". This is what makes this
music so fresh, Robertson's technique as a classically
trained musician shines through every piece. The music of
"Keys" does not fit into any one genre. "Morning Sunrise",
and "Romance" for example, have a New Age feel to them,
while "Prelude", "Piano Fantasy ", and "Dew" could easily be
found on a classical album. Each piece has an uplifting
melody that immediately captures the attention of the
listener, showing Robertson's extraordinary ability at
composition. The album comes full circle with the last track
"Midnight Solitude", which is over twenty minutes long.
