One
of the first things I noticed while listening to “Uncovered Keys”
is that the piano style is simple, yet profoundly moving. The melodies
of these powerful themes are allowed to manipulate the background harmonies
in a way that the essence of the theme always predominates. He plays with
a light, melodic touch that is slightly understated-somewhat like a softer-sounding
version of George Winston or Phillip Aaberg. From a technical standpoint,
the presentation is essentially flawless, albeit pianistically uncomplicated
and performed at a more or less uniform dynamic throughout.
