Greg Trooper
Make It Through This World

Dan Penn produced Greg's latest CD, Make It Through This World, which includes some warm Hammond along with other keys provided by Kevin McKendree, the Goners’ Kenneth Blevins on drums and percussion, Dave Jacques on upright and electric bass, Bill Kirchen on electric guitar, Steve Fishel on dobro and lap steel, and Trooper’s trademark hooks that grab you from the first line and just don't let go. This new release by Trooper features eleven new originals, and is probably not only a showcase for his best songwriting, but also for the best vocal performances he's ever given. Greg is truly a songwriters songwriter. His patented brand of country-tinged shuffles mixed with a sense of melodic folk is as comfortable as cuddling up with a great book. His artistic pedigree includes stints in New York, Austin, and Nashville, and it’s clear his effortlessness with a song is a direct result from quality experiences in all of those great music scenes.

Make It Through This World is intelligent, witty, sophisticated, and stylish. It's the kind of album that snares new fans and keeps longtime supporters more than satisfied. More eclectic than electric, Make It Through This World is an emotionally charged, high-powered collection of smart songs and irresistible charm. Inside these eleven tracks, Trooper explores an intemal dialogue of hope, regret, fear, and ultimately triumph of the human spirit. Highly recommended.
