Vir Unis
Aeonian Glow

(Greenhouse Music GHM 00.02)

Ambient synthesist, Vir Unis rewards the listener with a rich palette of sonic textures that always remains engaging in the eight compositions presented on Aeonian Glow.

This is exploratory ambience, avoiding the well-worn clichés of the genre. The pieces represented here lead the listener gently through slow timbral and textural changes over an extended period of time creating a mezmering atmosphere. The second cut on the disc, "The Ghost of Aeons" achieves this with resonating atmospheres and shimmering sonorities, an audio metaphor similar to sleepwalking through an underwater forest.

On the surface these compositions seem like plaintive, serene soundscapes, but there is an underlying energy like a sleeping giant, that is ready to emerge at any moment. The music of Vir Unis depicts vast distances and miles yet to be journeyed. There is a subtle emotive motion between the languid tones that allow each piece to breathe and unfold, like tossing a pebble into a pond, and slowly watching the ripples fade into oblivion. As a whole, the album conjures up images of mysterious, other-worldly landscapes. The album unfolds as the music's persuasive thrust draws you in with devastatingly superb results.
