Richard Bone
'Electropica'

(Quirkworks Quirk 09)

Ambient guru, Richard Bone has taken a brief respit from his highly acclaimed ambient inclinations, and has presented a crisp new interpretation of bossa nova.

On Electropica, Bone gives outstanding performances on 10 original songs. True to the style of his earlier works, Richard demonstrate a penchant for textural timbres and wide open ambience, but adds more rhythmic and melodic elements. These two influences create a wonderful blend, rather than a dichotomy of styles.

The album is dedicated to the masters, Jobim, Bonfa, and Gilberto, and breathes new life into this wonderful sound of Brazilian culture. Bone's melodic motifs fit the easy flow of each composition while he reveals more of his soloing abilities in this relaxed forum. The music is intimate, personal and quite remarkable which creates a highly engaging experience.
